Fun at Overton Park
Sunday night we went to Overton Park with Jennifer and Amos. While Jennifer is no longer our nanny, she remains a great friend and we love her little guy! They have become a part of our family and we are blessed to have them in our lives. At times, it is hard not having our families close by, but friends and Kirk's sister make it easier. Anna and Silas light up when they hear they are coming over to visit. They both take on the protective, nurturing role of an older sibling when they are around Amos.
We enjoyed our time together. What a beautiful night! I am so glad the weather is turning cooler.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
Silas and Anna have started
a program called, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd at our church, Our Lady of
Sorrows. I was so excited spots were available to them. My prayers
were answered!
Parable of The Good Shepherd. Lengthy video, but gives you an idea of how things are taught.
I have never had so much trouble posting, as with this post... I hope to someday correct the font, but not today. I hope you have enjoyed reading.
Taken from the CGS website,
"Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is an approach to the religious formation
of children. It is rooted in the Bible, the liturgy of the church, and the
educational principles of Maria Montessori. Children gather in an
"atrium," a room prepared for them, which contains simple yet
beautiful materials that they use."
What an amazing opportunity.
How I wish this would have been available when I was young. Montessori methods promote a love of learning and now this method can take root in our children in a different way and promote a love of learning about God.
I have been praying for my
children and I truly wish that Kirk and I will be guiding hands for them in
this life. I have many hopes for my children, but the one hope that
stands above them all is the hope of Heaven.
I took some pictures of
their classroom at their orientation. I forgot my camera, so the pictures
are low quality. I have also included a video from another parish
explaining Catechesis, as well as a video of a parable.
While we are catholic, many
protestant churches are using the same concepts to teach their faith. I
believe this program is a gift from God. I am excited to see my children
draw closer to God and their faith.
