Pumpkin Farm

We went to a pumpkin farm with Jennifer, Wes and Amos.  We had a great time!  I didn't realize the inflatable slides would capture Si's attention, but they did.  He was brave climbing up those high ladders.  What fun!!

Petting Zoo and a lot of antibacterial gel...

Weekend Fun

Fun at the park on the weekend.  The first two, I 'm not sure... Maybe imitating monsters...

Cute close ups... His face is changing.  He is so grown up!

This morning was comical.  Anna chose the outfit.  She is a little fashionista.  She keeps us laughing that is for sure.

Preparing for our photo session

We have a photo session bright and early today....  It is outdoors and it is freezing!!  What was I thinking.  Last year we had a photo session outside in December.   At least I made it for October this year, but we didn't luck out with the weather.  The pictures will follow.  I captured some this morning and Anna's phone conversation is too funny not to post.  Enjoy!

Happy Birthday, Montessori Style

I love Montessori birthday celebrations!  He showed his class how he has changed throughout the years, while I read the story of Silas.

The Story of Silas

Silas was born on October 16, 2007, in the United States on the continent of North America, on the planet earth. He had to be held and taken care of all the time.  He couldn't talk to his Mom or Dad to let them know what he needed.  He wore diapers, drank only milk and slept a lot.  He soon learned to smile and laugh.

When Silas was 1 year old he learned to crawl, climb, then walk.  He began to eat regular food and loved mashed potatoes.  He had a birthday party and had his first piece of chocolate cake.

At 2 years old, Silas began talking.  He loved puzzles and painting.  He also loved music and dancing.  He took a music class this year and learned to sing songs.  He also became a big brother to his little sister Anna.

When Silas was 3 years old he came to Hilltop Montessori school.  He could talk in sentences, sing, and run.  He took swim lessons.  He learned to ride a tricycle. He loved doing jobs at school and playing on the playground.  He helped a lot at home and would help put laundry away, feed the dogs, and clean up after playing.  He loved playing hide and seek, stunt mania, riding his plasma car and spending time with his family and friends.
And now Silas is 4 years old. He can dress himself.  He can help prepare food.  He loves to eat rice, yogurt, and spaghetti.  His favorite dessert is cupcakes.  He continues to love playing hide and seek, riding his plasma car and power wheel, and playing with monster trucks. He has learned how to use tools and works with his Daddy in his workshop.  He can drive remote control cars and play video games.  He loves art projects, reading books, learning, watching movies, and spending time with his family.  He sets a good example for his little sister and helps her when she needs him.

Silas is 4!

Silas had two fun birthday parties!  One at a gymnastics center and one at home.  He had a great time.  I was thankful Aunt Kim, Katherine and Carol could attend, as well as Grandmom and our new nephew Beau.

Jennifer, our new, old nanny and friend helped me with the cupcakes from scratch plan.  What an eye opening experience.  All ingredients at the same temperature and what type of mixture attachment??  It was an experiment, a very tedious experiment.  I felt like I was back in analytical chemistry.  Somehow my experiments in chemistry turned out better than this one.  The bottoms were burnt, but they looked nice.  Thanks Jennifer for all your help and all the love you show my sweet little ones.  My friend Kelly is always a great help to our family as well and we appreciate all her help with the party.  Lauren, our past nanny and friend was also there to celebrate.  She got a job in August and is now a teacher at an elementary school.  We miss her, but we are glad she has become a part of our family!

My sweet boy is growing up.  I look at pictures from August and now October and wonder what happened..  He is growing too fast.  I tell Si to stop growing all the time.  He tells me that he has to, but that he will always be my big baby.  I hope that is true.  What a joy having Silas in our lives has been.  I have a sense of dread as the time passes.  I know it is so pessimistic and selfish of me, but I sometimes wish I could trap them in childhood forever.  I love them both so much and I am so blessed that God has given us two wonderful children.  Happy Birthday my sweet boy!

The home party

I labored over this cake, but it was a labor of love.  It was a lot of fun to make and he loved it!  I wonder if I will take the easy route and having one party at a place where everything is included.  Doubt it...

Giving Amos some love, a little too much Anna!

And the big gift....  I found this at a consignment sale.  What a find!  He loves it!  I was so excited to see him so excited.  We love you buddy!
